Just when you thought official Charlotte could not be any more brain dead, how is this for a brilliant idea: Honor convicted felon Rick Hendrick by naming the street outside the NASCAR Hall of Fame for him.

Hendrick, for those of you and city staff on a different planet, pleaded guilty to felony mail fraud in 1997.

But since everything the city of Charlotte does is tinged with fraud and misdirection, maybe this makes perfect sense.

Update: I suppose I should remind city staff of Bill Clinton’s pardon of Hendrick.
