Just in time to help make sense out of all the election-season promises and claims a new citizen’s guide to local spending from the Locke Foundation provides some perspective on Charlotte government spending over the last 10 years.
Among the more interesting facts in the guide is the revelation that Charlotte in the only city and county in the state to spend over $1000 per capita on capital projects. In other words, Charlotte really does build way more stuff than anyone else in North Carolina. Except roads. Never roads.
