Charter school operators have gathered in the state capital for their first annual conference since state lawmakers lifted the cap of 100 charter schools statewide.

In a morning news conference, Sen. Richard Stevens, R-Wake, and former Sen. Eddie Goodall of the N.C. Alliance for Public Charter Schools discussed this year’s charter legislation, future changes they would like to see, concerns about the composition of a new charter school oversight group connected to the State Board of Education, and other charter-related topics.
