Charter schools and Drew Carey are the only good things to come out of Cleveland.

That said, Cleveland’s charter schools have been instrumental in keeping families from abandoning the city and moving to the suburbs, according to an article in the Cleveland Plain Dealer. I particularly like this quote:

To stem the exodus of families from Cleveland, we must leverage our best public schools — charter and district — as catalysts for creating neighborhoods of choice,” [charter school director Perry] White said. “The future of our city and region depends on it.”

When mayors Chuck and Pat talk about attracting new residents to Raleigh and Charlotte, charter schools and “neighborhoods of choice” should be at the top of their wish list.
