Here is an article on charter schools that manages not to bash them! (Reason: it is not from the N&O or the Charlotte Observer.)

Reporter Angela Mack does a nice job of addressing the land acquisition and facilities funding challenges encountered by leaders and school officials from Wilmington area charter schools: the Roger Bacon Academy charter school, the Cape Fear Center for Inquiry, and the new Wilmington Preparatory Academy. Charter schools receive no state or local funds for capital expenditures.

Unfortunately, the article fails to mention that the Roger Bacon Academy is one of the best public schools in the state, even with no-frills facilities and a student body that is 41 percent economically disadvantaged.
