If you think of Chatham County as a growing, picturesque area that kisses the Triangle, you’re right. A drive through Chatham reminds me of how beautiful this state is. But politically, Chatham County has become a hornet’s nest of controversy over growth and development, the land transfer tax, and the race for Pittsboro mayor. It is definitely one to watch, as it has candidates and citizen groups working hard in support of, and in opposition to, restrictions on growth and property rights. The last few days have included several stories that illustrate the political and policy tug-of-war. First, there was this story. Then this story. Today’s installment is here.
