I was at my polling place in Johnston County — Cleveland Community Church, or “C3” as it’s better known — at about 6:10 this morning to a line of similar length to Terry’s. They are a megachurch and had their cafe open, but I did not take advantage of that gesture. I did however use their unlocked wireless access to read some news and email on my PDA while I waited in line — nice!

I have been ignoring the robocalls and poll-takers who have been calling my house (thank you, caller ID), but last night I got a local one on my cellphone that I decided to take. It was the Johnston County Obama campaign, with a live person on the line! The woman was very courteous and asked me if I had already decided who I was voting for, and I was coy and asked her what information she would like to share with me. She then asked what top issues would be the basis for my vote and so I decided to take up her time with the abortion/pro-life issue. I shared with her my other top issues and she realized that I was a lost cause, so we cordially drew our conversation to a close. But it’s obvious that Obama has got the resources to employ a first-rate “ground game.”

I was voter No. 36 at C3 this morning. I’ve already lost my “I voted” sticker.
