There?s a lot of coverage today over at Carolina Journal Online of the state Republican convention and a vote by the GOP?s executive committee to exclude House Co-Speaker Richard Morgan from party leadership posts for five years. One thing that bugs me: lots of observers are describing the factional divide as between the ?conservative wing? of the party and Morgan?s ?moderate wing.?

But judging by the overwhelming vote by and sentiment among party leaders, the conservatives have both wings, both breasts, both thighs, and both legs. Morgan?s faction is, essentially, the gizzard.
