Greensboro City Manager Jim Westmoreland and International Civil Rights Museum board chair Deena Hayes-Greene exchange correspondence over the museum’s financials, but the bottom line (so to speak) is there is still no signed agreement over the city’s first payment on a $1.5 million loan.
Read Westmoreland’s initial request here; read Hayes-Greene’s response here; read Westmoreland’s follow-up questions here.
Better yet read (again) the 2012 audit submitted by the museum. As I’ve said time and again, the city and the museum can keep splitting financial hairs on the short term all they want. But the literal bottom line is the museum carries a staggering debt and given its income over the first four years of operation I can’t imagine what will pull it out from that debt.
