I read with interest N&R bleeding heart Lorraine Ahearn’s Sunday front-pager on the plight of Myanmar immigrants struggling to make a living by commuting 90 minutes to the Perdue Farms chicken plant in Rockingham.

Despite describing repeatedly the horrors the Twan Har family endured in their “impoverished and repressive” home country, I still got the feeling that Ahearn believes something should be done to help them gain a better life here in the U.S.

Hey, they’ve got freedom and they’ve got jobs, so what more do they need?

Update: If really, really want classic Lorraine Ahearn, you can buy her book. Foreword by Bubba.
