Climate change does affect us; it revives debate about policies that limit personal freedom and expand government control. The effort to reduce global warming involves a push for more renewable energy sources, including wind power. Daren Bakst explained in a recent Wilmington Star-News op ed that wind power is unreliable, inefficient, and potentially harmful to the environment. Bakst made similar points during a public presentation Friday at a wind power forum in Asheville. Another policy proposal that’s gained new life from the global warming debate is so-called “smart growth.” Carolina Journal Editor Richard Wagner‘s recent column on “malignant smart growth” drew attention from the Leland Tribune and the “Global Warming News” feature on RepublicansAgenda.com.
