The N.C. House has voted 99-10 to move forward with reauthorizing the Legislative Commission on Global Climate Change.

The idea still needs support from the Senate to become law.

The bill’s sponsor, Rep. Pricey Harrison, D-Guilford, indicated she would address some concerns about the commission as the legislation moves forward. House Minority Leader Paul Stam, R-Wake, urged lawmakers to look for a more diverse set of opinions as the group continues debating about global warming policy.

Rep. Curtis Blackwood, R-Union, mentioned the need for a cost-benefit analysis.
