The National Enquirer is pushing a story about an alleged affair between John Edwards and his Web filmmaker. But, hey, it’s the Enquirer, whose reputation for accuracy is even worse than The New York Times‘.

Jim Geraghty points out a veddy eenteresting coincidence: David Kendall, the Clintons’ lawyer for years during Whitewater and impeachment, is the Enquirer‘s lawyer who reads copy pre-publication for any libel problems.

Now what are the chances of that?

Oh, and before any lefties start blaming the right for pumping this story, be advised that it was Daily Kos and Huffington Post, two very, very left-wing blog sites, that began discussing this allegation a couple of weeks ago. As per usual, profanity warning anytime you go to Daily Kos.
