At last night’s meeting the Randolph County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to continue its pursuit of a “mega site” in Liberty. However exactly what that means is unclear, given the project is heavily dependent on the state:

Board members acknowledged that if the state does not approve the partnership, time is running out for county participation. The $1.67 million grant the county received from the state in December 2012 came with a deadline: Use it by the end of this year or the money reverts back to the state.

And $1.67 million is a drop in the bucket compared to the estimated $200 million cost to construct and market the site. Legal action on the part of property owners also lingers.
