The Charleston Gazette reports that Via Airlines will on December 1 begin twice-daily service from Charlotte to Beckley, West Virginia using 30-seat Embraer EMB-120 turboprops. This is some sort of strange economic development deal that also involves the construction of an aircraft maintenance hanger at Beckley. And in case you’ve never heard of Via Airlines, judging by the website, this will be their only route. And no, that’s not really an encouraging sign. More like a flashing yellow light.
Charlotte had flights to Beckley back in the date, but those days ended at least a decade ago.
