The big winner in the annual Country Music Association awards last night was a religious song by Brooks and Dunn “Believe.”  It won Best Single, Best Song, and Best Music Video.  Brooks and Dunn won Best Duo, as they always do.  In fact, it was a great night for religious country songs.  Of the five nominated for Best Song, three were religious.  The other great religious song this year was “When I Get Where I’m Going”  (heaven, of course) by Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton.

Here is the last verse and chorus of “Believe:”

I can’t quote the book
The chapter or the verse
You can’t tell me it all ends
In a slow ride in a hearse
You know I’m more and more convinced
The longer that i live
Yeah, this can’t be
No, this can’t be
No, this can’t be all there is

(Chorus)
When I raise my hands, bow my head
I’m finding more and more truth in the words written in red
They tell me that there’s more to life than just what i can see
I believe
