The state Department of Public Instuction has dripped out more data on test scores, this time the Adequate Yearly Progress metrics. Most interesting, other than the numbers are hard to find, is that exactly four out of 32 CMS middle schools made their AYP goals.
Three schools — Jay M. Robinson, Community House, and South Charlotte — are all clustered close together in Southern Meck and the fourth is the Davidson IB program.
Overall, just 50 of 142 CMS schools made AYP, for a 35 percent clip. But the middle schools are not even close to that sorry performance.
This is another bit of evidence that CMS must fix the middle schools if the district is ever to right itself.
