I always worry when someone says, don’t worry it’s not so bad, and it’s not going to happen anyway.

Case in point: CNN’s story on Shona Holmes, who came to the U.S. for cancer treatment, attempts to refute or minimize the case against Canadian health care. For example, “the average wait time for a knee replacement is actually 109 days, and a hip replacement is 91 days,” not 340 days for knees or 196 days for hips. And “most life-threatening cases are treated quickly” (just hope you’re not in the other group). When the facts can be stretched any further, CNN’s Dana Bash and Lesa Jansen fall back to the defense that “no Democratic plan now on the table calls for a Canadian-like government run health care system.”
