CNN has been in a WNC County to cover the “Main Street” side of the economy, this according to the Mitchell News-Journal:
CNN has been running ‘Money & Mainstreet’ a segment hosted by Anderson Cooper. This segment aims to see how the economic down turn is affecting small communities, and to share their stories with the rest of America.
“We want to see how the economy is affecting main street, not Wall Street,” said Sara Lee, CNN associate producer. “Our story focuses on the challenges the current economy presents, and what the small towns are doing to try to combat that.”
CNN came to Spruce Pine last month to interview Keith and Vickie Murdock, who both recently found themselves unemployed. Jerry Willis, who works for CNN, is from Spruce Pine and her mother still lives here. Willis originally suggested the Murdocks for this story.
