Also on today’s city council agenda is consideration of the coming year’s HOME and CDBG disbursements. The staff report couldn’t help but take a stab at Sequestration as the cause of 10% budget cuts. Contingent on federal budget projections, the funds have been allocated to a number of local projects executing powers duly granted the US government by Article $#@ Section *#$@! of whatever they’re reading and interpreting on what-not these days. Those enumerated powers include:

. . . creating or improving 198 housing units and helping an additional 125 households afford housing, . . . homeless services, financial counseling, small business assistance, and other needed services.

Among these powers is that of paying for a spray ground at the Dr. Wesley Grant, Sr. Southside Center. (You wouldn’t believe how much energy went into deciding upon that name.)
