Yesterday, the North Carolina Bankers Association (NCBA) presented a pro Common Core resolution to Governor McCrory.  According to the NCBA press release,

The resolution called for continued implementation of these rigorous goals and aligned assessments to ensure North Carolina students are prepared for success in college and career.

The question I have for NCBA is simple.  Where were NCBA resolutions condemning state education officials for inflicting pitiful standards and tests on North Carolina public school students – for nearly two decades?

That is a pretty easy question to answer.  There was never a political advantage to do so.

Don’t think for a minute that NCBA members actually care about educational standards.  Governor McCrory and key members of the legislature support implementation of the standards.  If you want to get on their good side, you declare your support for something they support – the Common Core State Standards.
