The N&O is reporting that the UNC system is considering whether illegal immigrants residing in North Carolina have a right to attend one of UNC’s 16 campuses while paying in-state tuition.  While I tend to be more of an open border advocate than many of my colleagues, I recognize that this is really the equivalent of packaging up North Carolina tax-dollars and sending them to pay for educational programs in other countries.  Then again, if we have no problem paying part of the electricity bills of Texans or Californians, I guess it’s not such a stretch to fund education elsewhere as well.
