Joe found an anti-CON (certificate of need) law article in Health Affairs and
I happened to look at the letters written in response to that
article. The quote below, by a Instructor at Cornell, indicates
that the free market think tanks have been doing a good job. I fear,
however, this instructor will be turning out students to work against
us.
” It’s too bad many people still assume that the health care industry
operates according to the economic principles developed by Adam Smith.
The public believes so; our boards, even our communities think the
same. It’s probably the single biggest barrier to real health care
reform.”
