This week, a group of faculty at UNC-Chapel Hill stepped up their public opposition to a proposed Western Civilization program that would be funded by the John William Pope Foundation. In a letter, the group accused the university of secretly negotiating with the Pope Foundation and excluding faculty from the discussion. This latest twist got the attention of American Family Radio, a network of Christian radio stations. AFR interviewed George Leef about the issue Thursday morning. That afternoon, WPTF’s Bill LuMaye took up the topic with Jon Sanders, who noted great irony in the fact that the group was silent about the university’s recent negotiations with former Sen. John Edwards, which led to a two-year post at the law school.
