The local daily appears to be taking credit for the decision of Henderson County Sheriff Rick Davis’ decision to take medical leave.

Davis made the announcement the same day the Citizen-Times received thousands of emails between him and an employee in response to a North Carolina public records law request.
The newspaper also had requested any legal settlement between the county and Sheriff’s Office employees. The county refused to acknowledge whether any settlements existed and denied the requests citing confidential employee records laws.

As an aside, the honorable and respected sheriff had accumulated about 250 days of PTO.
