Macon County wants to allow property owners to subdivide one lot off their property every year. Some people, like County Planner Stacy Guffey, would rather make owners wait three years between subdivisions. He’s afraid developers would undertake fractal iterations to work around the county’s subdivision rules.
“That’s sort of a danger in a provision like that. I don’t want to see people use this as a loophole. This ordinance is to increase public safety,†he said.
The proposed ordinance would also subject all subdivisions, no matter how small, to a review process.
