Now that Raleigh city officials have finished celebrating the opening of a new $221 million convention center, the John Locke Foundation’s concerns about that center’s financial picture are attracting attention. The News & Observer printed today a letter from JLF Research Director and Local Government Analyst Michael Sanera. The letter highlights some of the key findings in Sanera’s recent Regional Brief about the subsidies and discounts required to make the center viable. While Sanera was out of state, communications director Mitch Kokai pinch-hit for him in granting interviews about the report to WRAL and WTVD Television.
