The N.C. House of Representatives voted 59-53 in 2017 not to move forward with a request for a Convention of States. The convention would propose amendments to the U.S. Constitution.
Lawmakers later revived the idea and parked it in a House committee. Now convention supporters will rally at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday to push for new consideration of the proposal.
Convention of States founder and president Mark Meckler discussed the group’s goals with Carolina Journal Radio.
To draw people to the rally, organizers are offering a chance for people to interact with a mascot dubbed Liberty the llama.
