When he wasn’t reminding people about Mike Easley’s history of secrecy, Paul Chesser was also active on other fronts. In a letter to the News & Observer, he questioned the way most media outlets report the projected benefits from targeted tax incentives. Speaking of media bias, Chesser recently highlighted information that suggests a left-leaning agenda from the Associated Press. Accuracy in Media noted Chesser’s work (as reported in the Canada Free Press), which led to a mention in Poynter Online’s influential Romenesko blog. In his role as director of Climate Strategies Watch, Chesser highlighted problems associated with the Western Climate Initiative. John Fund of the Wall Street Journal took note, as did the National Taxpayers Union, whose report ended up in outlets such as the Big Sky Business Journal. Chesser used his latest American Spectator column to recap his investigation. Meanwhile, the National Center for Policy Analysis picked up Chesser’s report on negative impacts from jobs designed to help fight climate change.
