The circumstances, as described by the parent of one of the kids living in the house, sound fishy. After the Duke lacrosse fiasco the Durham Police Department would have to be out of its mind to do something as described by this parent:

A team of 15 or more cops with assault rifles just searched their house about 5 minutes after an undercover cop delivered a package to their address (the addressee was a female unknown to them). Everyone was handcuffed, windows were punched out, shelves were broken. The person that signed for the package (not my son) was taken in to the police station.

UPDATE: I can’t find it online, but The N&O had a short story today about a drug bust at 1026 West Trinity Avenue in Trinity Park, right next door to where I used to live. The story says a student was arrested on marijuana trafficking charges and the arrest warrant says 27 pounds were found. The delivery of the package was a ruse by police. Too early to tell if entrapment or mistaken location are involved, but sounds from the report like this was a good bust. Whether the mom’s police-bulls-in-china-shop description above is accurate has yet to be determined.
