After writing Monday?s Daily Journal column on political anagrams, I got to thinking how the names of some of my National Review colleagues might be rearranged in interesting ways. If you are an NRO reader, these names may mean something to you. If not, then obviously you need to go check out The Corner blog and then come back:

? Jonah Goldberg can be rendered as ?gang job-holder,? which might
explain his puzzling absences from his new digs at the American Enterprise Institute. It can also be
rendered as ?John garble dog? ? but I’m telling you, I do understand
Jonah’s pro-canine rantings, I just don?t buy them. And if Jonah starts
riffing again on eschatology or epistemic closure, one might text him
?beg hold jargon.?

? Rich(ard) Lowry translates as ?wiry arch-lord,? which is most apt,
and ?horrid crawly,? which is most unfair. Then there?s ?rich lad
worry,? which seems more aspirational than descriptive.

? Kathryn Lopez can be rearranged as ?Krypton Hazel,? which pretty
much exposes her secret superhero identity to everyone who hadn’t picked
up on it. As for ?phony elk tzar,? everyone had pretty much seen
through her zoological pretenses already.

? Mark Steyn can be rendered as either an insult (?my rankest?), a
spy reference (?entry mask?), a possible crack in K-Lo?s oppressive
anti-science fiction regime (?many Treks?), or a job at Mattel (?my Ken tsar?).

? Ramesh Ponnuru is the person to go to if you want to ?hamper our
nuns,? ?run upon harems,? ?hear rump nouns,? or ?run posh manure.? But
if you want levity, Ramesh can manage only ?near-humor puns.?

? Jim Geraghty cannot be held responsible for the ?Jig-Rage Myth,?
which was all over the web long before he propagated it.

? As for John Miller, he’s the guy you want to consult about all
questions ?re: John Mill.?

? Stephen Spruiell exhibits ?uphill pretenses? and refuses to dab
?his repellent pus.? He’s also prone to ?push ill preteens,? which is
just plain mean. He needs help.

? And finally, John Derbyshire offers some intriguing results: the
mysterious ?John-Bird Heresy,? the playful ?John hides berry,? the
environmentally conscious ?John: hybrid seer,? and the delightfully
occupational ?shiny job-herder.?
