Noise ordinance hearings aren’t dramatically different. Somebody, in this case, Soul Infusion Teahouse and Bistro of Sylva, makes a lot of noise, and residents don’t want to hear it in their houses with the doors and windows shut. Live music, however, makes money and grows the tax base. The most interesting comment at the recent public hearing came from resident Curt Collins:

In economic downtimes, people spend more money on entertainment, Collins said, which is why it’s important to keep businesses like Soul Infusions up and running.

Is the converse also true?
