There’s one statewide court race that’s still very tight.
In a nominally non-partisan race for a seat on the N.C. Court of Appeals, Republican Donna Stroud leads appointed incumbent Democrat Linda Stephens by just 3,000 votes out of more than 1.1 million cast. It’s 50.13 percent to 49.87 percent with 79 percent of precincts reporting.
In the other appeals court race, incumbent Bob Hunter leads 59-41.
The only close Supreme Court race pits two women who want to move up from the appeals court.
Robin Hudson leads Ann Marie Calabria 51-49.
In other Supreme Court races:
- Sarah Parker will continue to serve as chief Justice. She’s declared the winner.
- Incumbent Associate Justice Mark Martin has 62 percent of the vote with 82 percent of the precincts reporting.
- Appointed incumbent Patricia Timmons-Goodson leads 58-42.
