According to an association of health insurance providers, Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) have passed the one-million-subscriber mark
in March, just a year after they were introduced. America’s Health
Insurance Plans found that for 26% of companies offering the plans, it
was new coverage.
More importantly, more than half of the
policies were to inividuals and 37% of them were previously uninsured.
In addition to opening the insurance market to more people, they may,
as John Hood noted this morning, help bring rationality to health care costs.
