Unlike most local governments, Henderson County is persevering with its revals. Most governments have used their power to postpone revals until housing prices pick up. Henderson County Assessor Stan Duncan referred to the decision to follow through as, “the only fair thing to do.” The overall value of property assessed to date is 3% below 2007 levels, and the difference could increase before the assessment process is completed. Furthermore, the commissioners fully acknowledge they will either have to raise taxes or cut services as a result.
