To me the most interesting thing to come out of Chief Rodney Monroe’s “press conference” on his degree situation is the certitude city manager Curt Walton still displays. Walton still holds it is “unlikely” that Monroe’s will have his BA degree revoked.
Earth to Curt. If the Virginia legislature had its way the degree would’ve been pulled weeks ago. As it stands laws are being changed and policies re-written told that end. More direct still, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has yet to fully address the matter. Its governing commission will not take up the Monroe matter until December.
VCU could then be faced with a de facto choice between losing accreditation for its independent studies program or pulling Monroe’s degree.
