Today’s Pope Center Clarion Call is by a former history instructor (and graduate of) the Naval Academy. He writes about the damage that is being done by the Navy’s insistence on following the politically correct notion that every institution must be “diverse.” That is, recruit people so as to have percentages that mirror the demographics of society. Bill Clinton said he wanted a Cabinet that “looked like America” and current Naval brass want the same thing. That, however, sets up a conflict between merit and arbitrary preferences.
