The Charlotte Capitalist calls it propaganda, but Dark Arts throws in the mystical fervor beyond the reach of reason that often manifests when light rail acolytes gather. Anyway, all the supposed excitement about a “new lifestyle” and “transit villages” is pretty fantastic:

Seriously, there is no basis in reality of people demanding light rail and wanting to live in “transit villages”. I regularly see San Jose, California’s all but empty light rail system. Even during rush hour it is at best half-full. And the San Jose downtown is almost a ghost town. “Rush hour” is a 15-minute flurry of cars. No one wants to live in uptown and light rail has done nothing to increase it.

Things are skewed right now in Charlotte as it moves from basically no Uptown residential to some. This change confuses people when they assume it will continue at its present pace forever. There is some demand for this lifestyle now, but it is not limitless. Hence the propaganda.
