Daren,

I agree that parents have enough information about The Dark Knight to make an informed decision (the trailer alone should be enough to convince you this ain?t no sleigh ride to grandma?s). The point of my blog and column wasn?t to complain about the dearth of content disclosures on the Net and elsewhere, but to chastise parents for letting kids in without knowing the content…or knowing the content and still letting them in.

Regarding age, my premise wasn?t built on 13-year-olds seeing the movie. It was about the still-in-diapers toddlers or kids in early elementary school. There were quite a few of them in the showing I attended, and none of the parents walked out, even when it became apparent this was not a kid-friendly movie.

As to the graphic violence, bloodshed need not be present for violence to be deeply disturbing, and all the more to developing young minds (e.g., the Joker slashing some poor souls a new smile). You can?t tell me that won?t impact your average six-year-old. Knight pushes the upper limits of the PG-13 rating.
