Thanks to JLF’s Mitch Kokai for blogging at sister site The Locker Room about a fascinating column by David Gergen — the ultimate Washington insider, Durham native, and Duke University trustee who has been a consistent cheerleader for President Obama and his policies. But it seems Mr. Gergen may be getting concerned about government growth, spending, and regulations, as well as the 47 percent of Americans who no longer pay federal income taxes. Gergen writes:

Personally, I find these trends troubling. If they continue, we will diminish both the vitality and prosperity of the nation. Government should be compassionate and yet lean.

Mr. Gergen, glad to see you’re noting the alarming trends. However, these policies already have diminished our vitality and prosperity.
