North Carolina?s one earmarker to rule them all is U.S. Rep. David Price, D-4th, according to data from Taxpayers for Common Sense.

A new report tracks the number of earmarks in the omnibus (or, better rendered, ominous) spending bill for FY 2009.

Price came in at no. 1 in the Tar Heel congressional delegation, having scored 18 earmarks totaling $7 million.

The other N.C. members of Congress, one of whom no longer serves, scored thusly:

  • Robin Hayes ? 16 earmarks, $4.4 million
  • Heath Shuler ? 12 earmarks, $4.4 million
  • G.K. Butterfield ? 7 earmarks, $1.6 million
  • Mel Watt ? 5 earmarks, $1.5 million
  • Howard Coble ? 4 earmarks, $3.3 million
  • Bob Etheridge ? 4 earmarks, $1.4 million
  • Mike McIntyre ? 4 earmarks, $1.1 million
  • Sue Myrick ? 3 earmarks, $760,000
  • Brad Miller ? 2 earmarks, $380,000
