That’s the slogan on the button Shakespeare wears in the cover illustration for The Politically Incorrect Guide to English and American Literature (Regnery, 2006).

Authored by UNC-CH alumna Elizabeth Kantor, the guide offers an overview of the canon of great literature in the English language and takes aim at bizarre efforts to replace that canon with Marxism and other unsavory creeds.

Regular readers of Jon Sanders‘ “Course of the Month” will find no surprises among Kantor’s targets, but those of you looking to take another look at literature might find it useful.

I found fascinating Kantor’s three-page dissection of a single line from Milton’s Paradise Lost: “And thus the Filial Godhead answering spake.”
