Since you asked for it, here are my suggestions on how you can help make CMS more efficient.
- Fire all Ed Shed administrative staff. Hire back one-third of them.
- Stop wasting time and resources responding to morons braying about “resegregation.” You know as well as I do that the real issue is pulling all the Title I funds together and making sure that they are actually spent on the classroom, not on various perks and “goodies.”
- Shutter the Learning Communities offices. They were just a PR exercise — and an expensive one at that.
- Nuke CMS TV and all PR efforts apart from one media relations person authorized to speak on the record on behalf of CMS and one assistant.
- Contract out as many non-educational services as possible. One idea, an energy performance contract involving routine HVAC and lighting maintenance.
