Jan Davis won the third vote count in the close race for a seat on Asheville City Council. He defeated Lael Gray by 35 votes this time. The article in the local daily complains that Gray took fliers to the post office for mailing Nov. 2 and 3, but 75-100 pieces were not delivered until the day after the election. There is a strong possibility that more than 35% of the recipients of these flyers would have changed their mind. There is an even stronger possibility that when Mayor Terry Bellamy gets elected to Congress, Gray will be appointed to fill her seat anyway. Patsy Keever has announced her intent to run against Bellamy, but according to newspapers, Bellamy has two of the three diversity points that matter to voters (sex and race), and Keever only has one. The only other thing that matters is Mitt Romney hair.

Rep. Patsy Keever said Friday she’ll run for Congress after being drawn out of her state House district by Republicans in the legislature.
