Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton has officially announced his bid for governor. Here’s a list of other Democrats who either have expressed interest in running or stopped short of ruling it out:
- Mike McIntyre, U.S. congressman from N.C.’s 7th Congressional District
- Erskine Bowles, former Clinton chief of staff and past president of the UNC system
- Dan Blue, N.C. senator from Wake County
- Brad Miller, U.S. congressman from N.C.’s 13th Congressional District
- Anthony Foxx, mayor of Charlotte in his second term
- Richard Moore, former N.C. state treasurer
- Heath Shuler, U.S. congressman from N.C.’s 11th Congressional District
- Allen Joines, mayor of Winston-Salem
Also on the list: Bill Faison, a state representative from Orange County, and Bob Etheridge, former U.S. congressman from the 2nd Congressional District.
