For some reason, there was a lag-time for news about the attempt of Asheville City Council to negotiate in “good faith.” For all you Sleeping Beauties out there, the good-faith negotiations were required by the legislative study commission if the city were to have any chance at retaining unilateral control of the water system. The study recommended a merger. One legislator, who claimed the wee folk aren’t acquainted with the history of the water system Tuesday, was called out by Mayor Terry Bellamy for attempting to punish the city for past wrongs committed by other people when the city is now running the system well. No matter what, something in the air, which may have something to do with words overheard in government chambers, indicates the state will legislate a merger.
