The annual rankings of “America’s Best Graduate Schools” by U.S. News and World Report carry a lot of clout with some parents and students, but George Leef believes the rankings are nonsense. “They’re useless. Almost worst than useless,” Leef told the Daily O’Collegian at Oklahoma State. Four of Oklahoma’s programs were ranked in the top 100 of their fields, and university officials told the paper they consider the designation a sign of excellence. Leef countered that the report only evaluates inputs and causes students to mistakenly believe that the higher the ranking, the better the educational environment
