Still looking for the reasons behind Jerry Richardson’s decision to fire his sons? Me too.
A good one might be the expectation that the 2010 NFL season will be played without a salary cap. Beyond that there is fear that the NFL owners will lock-out the players heading into the 2011 season. In other words, labor negotiations are about to hit overdrive around the league.
Maybe that is why Jerry figures he needs a guy with no baggage like Danny Morrison to be his pointman now. A guy who, from all accounts, is slick people person who could sell ice cream to Eskimos. Shorter-term there is the issue of TV blackouts around the league in cities without sellouts, like Jacksonville and San Diego, which is already attracting the ire of politicians.
The bottomline, however, remains that we’ll just have to wait and see what exactly Morrison does to know why the Big Cat wanted him on board so badly.
