Reedy Creek Diner owner Greg Simons has removed his controversial ‘No Speak English, No Service’ sign:
A day after receiving several threatening phone calls as news of the sign spread through media outlets, Simons reluctantly removed the sign from his front door that also advised service would be refused to any non-English speaker in French, Russian, German and Irish languages. He said he initially posted it because no one on the staff is bilingual, and they couldn’t communicate with non-English speakers.
I realize North Carolina’s become a regular melting pot, especially a city of 250k like Greensboro. But let’s be real here. Just how many people speaking French are driving down Highway 150 in Davidson County looking for something to eat?
