The Watauga County Commissioners appear to favor decreasing the fund balance by $6.13 million to increase funding for:

  • “technology needs”
  • pool repair
  • animal control
  • 911 communications upgrades
  • a “document management system” for the DSS
  • supplemental income for schools
  • sheriff’s department payroll
  • across-the-board cost of living increases.

The public hearing on the budget will be held at the commissioners’ meeting on the evening of May 17.
